Apsaras represent an important motif in the stone bas-reliefs of the Angkorian temples in Cambodia. The bas-reliefs of Angkorian temples has become an inspiration of Khmer classical dance today.

Apsaras were celestial Dancers, featured by the thousands on the walls of the ancient temples of Angkor. Apsara were reputed to be friendly and danced for the God in order to encourage rain, good crops, prosperity, and protection of the kingdom.
